The Auer MAK UEG is a hand pump that is used in conjunction with gas detection tubes to test the air for gases.

MAK = Maximalen Arbeitsplatzkonzentration (Maximum workplace concentration)

UEG = Unteren Explosionsgrenze (Lower explosion limit)
